The San Diego Half Marathon at Petco Park
The San Diego Half Marathon at Petco Park is a new race that celebrates the beauty and uniqueness of the City of San Diego while raising money to help their communities.
The San Diego Half Marathon is doing business as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) with all net proceeds going towards community service projects in San Diego. In addition to the funding, we hope to catalyze volunteerism as a way to help hurting communities throughout our city. The San Diego Half Marathon will also benefit five additional select charities by enabling runners to raise money for any or all of the six causes that are important to them.
Our MissionTo promote community service initiatives and causes that catalyze volunteerism and charitable giving as a way to transform lives while providing a premier, professionally managed running and entertainment event that leverages and celebrates the unique qualities of San Diego.
Our TeamThe San Diego Half Marathon executive team includes over 130 years of executive business management, marketing, and project management experience from a variety of companies and industries including Qualcomm, the United States Navy, Nautical Enterprises Inc., Hughes Network Systems, and SeaWorld.
The executive team and operations team has experience with running events, large festivals and concert production. We are also pleased to have on our team a Race Director Consultant with over 30 years of marathon and half marathon race experience. Additionally, our race day operations are being performed by companies with proven track records in San Diego and beyond for marathons and half marathons ranging from 8,000 participants to over 30,000 participants including, but not limited to, areas such as timing, traffic, photography, and course logistics. Lastly, we will be working closely with Petco Park events in the production of the Sport, Health, and Fitness Expo and the Celebrate San Diego event.
Our DifferenceThe San Diego Half Marathon is inspired by Do Something! Make Your Life Count by Miles McPherson. We strive to make a meaningful and measurable, positive difference in the lives of our community and beyond.
Ensuring transparency and to maintain the integrity of the mission and financials of the San Diego Half Marathon, an independent financial audit by a third party accounting firm will be conducted on an annual basis.
We hope that others embrace the vision and mission of this one-of-a-kind race and event, and we look forward to helping the communities of San Diego and beyond for years to come.
